ABOUT ME

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Toronto, specializing in children and their families. I trained as a family therapist at the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health, formerly the Hicks-Dellcrest Centre.

I am the mother to four beautiful and unique children. I am constantly learning and gaining a deeper understanding of the joys and the challenges of parenting. As a parent, I work to ensure my children’s health and safety, and hope to prepare them for life as happy and productive adults. My children remind me that this is not an easy task. I am continually adjusting and reflecting on how to best help them become who they are capable of being.

My Approach

I believe therapy is a collaborative partnership between a client and their therapist, a journey that both partake in to work toward a common goal: to help bring a greater sense of well-being to the client. And although I hold a set of therapeutic tools, I believe people are the experts in their own life. I listen, guide, and work from a place of warmth, kindness, and compassion. I work to create a nurturing and non-judgemental environment to help people connect with their feelings and give language to their experiences.

I use an integrative approach in my practice, which draws on knowledge from a variety of different theories and models. This includes attachment theory to understand and process where we have come from and how this impacts us in our day to day life; cognitive behavioural therapy to help understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and developing strategies to manage strong emotions; as well as narrative therapy to explore the stories we tell about ourselves.
